Established in 2002, the NYU Adjuncts Union represents part-time faculty members who play a crucial role in the university's academic life. The NYU adjuncts union advocates for better pay, job security, and working conditions. The union's efforts aim to ensure fair compensation and support for all Bargain Union Eligible adjuncts who significantly contribute to the educational experience at New York University. By negotiating contracts and addressing concerns, the union strives to improve the overall quality of adjunct faculty employment and promote equity within the academic community.

ACT-UAW Local 7902 represents over 4,000 part-time and adjunct professors, student educators, and healthcare workers. After several years of organizing efforts, it was founded in 2002 and elected its first executive officers in 2005. It consists of five units:

If you teach at NYU or the New School and are a union member, you are ACT-UAW. Your local is staffed by faculty, paid union organizers, and governed by your fellow union members. Day-to-day operational and policy decisions are made by two bodies of elected members: the Joint Council and the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee reports to the Joint Council, which in turn reports to you and to your fellow union members.
