Technology Fund Grant

Q: What is the technology fund exactly?
A: The technology fund is a union-won benefit. In a side letter to our contract, NYU set aside $100,000 each academic year for the purchase of teaching-related technological equipment. If you need new technology for your class or even if you are just looking to upgrade, you should definitely apply!

Q: What is the maximum amount I can request? 
A: Adjunct faculty may apply for up to $500 for reimbursement for approved purchases. This could be something like a computer, a recording device, a webcam, or a tablet. 

Q: Am I eligible to receive a technology fund grant?
A: To be eligible for a technology fund grant you must be a member of the bargaining unit in Academic Year 2023-2024. This means that you must teach at least 40 contact hours in the current academic year or provide at least 75 hours of individualized instruction or tutoring in a semester within the current academic year. Additionally, you must have an appointment in the current semester.  

Q: How can I apply for technology funds?
A: Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. They are subject to review and approval from the university. You can find a description and an application form here. Please send your applications to gerasimos@actuaw.org in your email. 

Q: What should I include in my application? 
A: Please include the following: 

  • In the subject line, write “Tech Fund Application” followed by your last name and first name.  

  • In explaining how the technology is teaching-related on the application form, relate it as closely as possible to your NYU appointment(s). 

  • Remember to sign your application document in the appropriate spot.


Q: I received a technology fund grant in Fall 2023. Can I apply again?
A: If you received the fund in Fall 2023, you are not eligible to apply again in Spring 2024. 


Don’t delay in applying! The technology fund is limited, and it won’t last forever.
