REPS’ CORNER:
Evaluations of teaching

In each newsletter we answer common questions. In this issue we focus on contacting the union.

Q: I need to contact the union, what is the best way to do that?
A: If you need to contact the union for any reason, the best way to do so is to send an email to David Palmer, the NYU Unit Chair. His email address is nyu@actuaw.org. David will either answer the question or forward it to one of the six other reps for response.

Q: What should I include in the email?
A: When contacting the union, it is important to detail your issue or question in the email. This will guarantee that you get the quickest response. Please include the school/department that you teach in and whether or not you have reappointment rights, if your question is about reappointment.

Q: My question is a little complicated, is it possible to receive a call from a union rep?
A: If you would prefer to receive a call, it is still helpful to include as much information as possible in your email. Additionally, please include the best number and times to reach you over the next several days, from when you send your email.

Q: How long does it take to get a response?
A: You should receive a response within 72 hours. If you don’t hear from a rep after 72 hours, please send a follow-up message to David at nyu@actuaw.org.

Q:  Is there a specific rep assigned to my school/department?
A: No.  Reps work to support all adjunct faculty and are not school specific. We seek to respond to your queries as soon as possible.
