FUNDING
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FUND

NYU sets aside $200,000 each academic year* for professional development. Any amount not spent in one year will roll over to the next.

Adjunct faculty may apply for up to $1,250 to support any activity that helps them develop professionally.

Professional certification, recertification, or teaching advancement relating to you university appointment(s)
Fees and travel expenses for professional conferences, conventions, courses supporting professional development, non-athletic co-curricular competitions, professional meetings, residencies, seminars, training or workshops relating to your university appointment(s);
Fees, materials and services for exhibitions, projects, portfolio review, publication, or professional projects including but not limited to creative, technical, scientific, or engineering works relating to your university appointment(s);
Professional organization membership relating to your university appointment(s);
Research (library and archival visits, ethnographic research and field trips) relating to your university appointment(s);
Purchase of software; and/or professional training in software and other technology relating to your university appointment(s);
Subscriptions to professional publications or services relating to your university appointment(s);
Webinars relating to your university appointment(s);
Organizing or co-organizing a conference relating to your university appointment(s).

Adjuncts are eligible for up to $1250 once per academic year.*

Half the fund ($100,000) will be available in the fall semester, and the other half ($100,000) will be available in the spring. Each school will receive a percentage of the fund based on the number of adjunct faculty who teach in that school. Any funds not spent in an academic year will be rolled into the next academic year.
TECHNOLOGY FUND

The technology fund is a new union-won benefit. In a side letter to our new contract, NYU set aside $100,000 each academic year for the purchase of teaching-related technological equipment. If you need new technology for your class or even if you are just looking to upgrade, you should definitely apply!

Adjunct faculty may apply for up to $500 for reimbursement for approved purchases. This could be something like a computer, a recording device, a webcam, or a tablet.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. They are subject to review and approval from the university. You can find a description and an application form here.
